Quartet Senza Misura is a string quartet that was formed by four Juilliard students in 2012 out of a simple, mutual desire to explore the rich repertoire. With the support of the school, the group's performing career launched in its first year with concerts at The Greene Space at WQXR, Alice Tully Hall, The Kennedy Center, The Phillips Collection, Seoul Arts Center and more.
Since then, some of my most memorable experiences thus far have come from the time we spent together making music, hanging out, and traveling. We went to Marlboro Music Festival together, worked with kids from El Sistema at the Simon Bolivar Conservatory of Music in Venezuela, launched the inaugural season of my very own VIVO Music Festival with a performance of Georg Friedrich Haas' transcendental third string quartet, toured in South Korea and Spain, and more. There was even a point when we lived together in New York City: Francisco with Jay and Danny with me.
Following the model of the Johannes Quartet and the Ehnes Quartet, Quartet Senza Misura continues to exist as a part-time commitment as we're managing individual careers: Francisco Fullana, Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra; Danny Kim, Boston Symphony Orchestra; and Jay Campbell, JACK Quartet.
These guys are some of my best friends, and I have the utmost respect for them as good people and as inspired musicians. I’m always looking forward to our rollicking fun reunions.
